Planet 5 x OutIn — Partnership Overview
Where luxury mountain preservation meets precision portable brewing — a partnership built for the world's most extraordinary places and the people who protect them.
"A traditional brand sells you something, and the relationship usually ends at checkout. We're building something more interconnected — buy the coffee or the art or travel on an expedition and you're already invested in the mountain it came from, whether you meant to be or not."
— Dirk Collins, Founder, Planet 5
Who We Are
Planet 5 is a mountain preservation platform built on the conviction that commerce should protect the places it celebrates. Through fine art photography, rare high-altitude coffee, Guardian Memberships, and curated luxury expeditions, every revenue stream returns value directly to the mountain communities and ecosystems at the heart of our work.
Founded by Dirk Collins — TGR co-founder, Emmy-nominated filmmaker, and National Geographic photographer — Planet 5's first anchor brand partnership is with Teton Gravity Research. OutIn is the natural next step: a shared love of mountains, precision, and the craftsmanship that makes extraordinary places feel even more alive.
The Coffee
The road narrows as it climbs. In 1953, Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary stood on the summit of Everest for the first time. Tenzing's grandson, Tashi Tenzing, later made the same ascent. While Tashi was on the mountain, his wife Bandi Nima Sherpa had the idea — a farm on the hillside below, built to give their community a safe place to work and live. Together, they made it real.
70,000 Arabica plants grow without chemicals at altitude, among avocado, banana, and Himalayan spice. The cherries are hand-tended. The batches are small. What the farm earns, it returns — to schools, clinics, and forests. Planet 5 brought it home.
Single-origin. High-altitude. Medium-dark roast.

Why We Belong Together
The Mountain Is Everything
OutIn was born from the simple wish to enjoy quality coffee outdoors — from cityscapes to mountaintops. Planet 5 was built to protect those mountaintops and the communities living on them. Both brands exist because of the mountain. Both believe it deserves more than a backdrop.
Quality Without Compromise
OutIn engineers precision espresso machines that deliver barista quality at altitude. Planet 5 sources rare, high-altitude single-origin coffee from farmers who hand-tend every cherry. Neither brand believes that going further means settling for less. That shared standard is what makes a co-branded product feel authentic rather than opportunistic.
Commerce That Gives Back
OutIn partners with World Coffee Research to strengthen coffee farming communities and invests in ocean preservation through Shark Angels. Planet 5 returns every revenue stream directly to the mountain communities and ecosystems at the center of its work. Both brands believe that a purchase should mean something beyond the transaction.
No Boundaries, No Limits
OutIn's founding philosophy is #NoBoundaries — breaking the invisible barrier between indoor and outdoor life. Planet 5's expeditions take guests to places most travelers never reach. Both brands are built for people who refuse to be limited by where they are — and who believe the best experiences happen far from the expected.
Sustainability as a Standard
OutIn's Rebrew program turns coffee waste into eco-friendly products. Their machines eliminate 365 disposable cups per year, per user. Planet 5's direct-trade model removes exploitative supply chain layers and returns earnings to farmers, forests, schools, and clinics. Sustainability is not a campaign for either brand — it is a design principle.
Adventure Is the Audience
OutIn's community skews toward hikers, climbers, cyclists, skiers, and outdoor enthusiasts who demand quality wherever they go. Planet 5's audience is the luxury adventure traveler — the person who wants the wild place and the beautiful object and the story behind both. These audiences are not the same, but they are deeply complementary — and both are looking for brands that take the mountain as seriously as they do.
The Partnership
Planet 5 travelled to Nepal in October for the launch of Everest Coffee Company at Nuwa Estate, and the core team returns in January. OutIn joins as the expedition's portable espresso partner — with dedicated content shot specifically to support the collaboration. Co-posting and cross-tagging across Planet 5, Everest Coffee Company, and OutIn on both sides. Phase 1 is now scoped and agreed; the detail follows below.
Everest Coffee Company's Nepal Collection is a single-origin, high-altitude medium-dark roast that brews beautifully as espresso. A co-branded OutIn x Everest Coffee Company gift set is a natural, beautiful, and commercially compelling object — precision machine, rare coffee, preservation story. The kind of gift that means something.
Planet 5's Guardian Membership connects OutIn's community directly to the mountain landscapes they love. Offered at point of purchase, a Guardian Membership means every OutIn sale becomes an act of mountain preservation — with real-time impact data, not marketing copy. Members receive ongoing discounts across Everest Coffee and Planet 5 fine art.
OutIn's dedicated rare coffee section is a natural commercial home for Everest Coffee Company's Nepal Collection — placing it in front of an audience already seeking premium, story-rich single-origins. A co-branded gift set combining the OutIn Nano, the portable grinder, and Everest Coffee is a complete, beautiful, and purposeful product. The gift that brews at altitude and gives back to the mountain it came from.
Optional — Separate from the Partnership
Entirely separate from the commercial collaboration, and carrying no obligation: OutIn is invited to become a corporate supporter of the Mountain Preservation Foundation.
The Foundation is a registered Wyoming nonprofit whose stated mission is to preserve the world's great mountain ranges and to strengthen the communities who call them home. Its first program is the Nepal Flood Recovery Fund, supporting relief and rebuilding in the Trishuli valley — Rasuwa and Nuwakot — after the glacial collapse and flooding of 26 August. Nuwa Estate, where the Nepal Collection is grown, sits in Nuwakot. Those families are rebuilding now.
The work on the ground runs through partners including Nuwa Estate and the Nepal Green Tara Foundation, across rural health clinics, schools, and direct support to farming households. Planet 5 already commits a portion of Guardian Program revenue toward the Foundation's operating costs, so a corporate gift goes to the work rather than to overhead.
This sits outside everything else in this document and is offered only if it is of interest.
We would introduce the OutIn team to the Foundation directly to set out what corporate support can look like.

Agreed and In Motion
Phase 1 runs across two trips to Nepal. The October trial run is complete. The January shoot brings the full core team and the OutIn kit, with a dedicated shoot day built into the itinerary.
Completed — October 2026
The Trial Run
The Mino and Fino kits were delayed in transit, so the founders travelled with equipment sourced independently and treated October as a trial run. The team shot stills and brewing footage, learning the process on the fly, and came back with honest field notes on brewing at 4,800m — conditions close to the 5,000m ceiling quoted for the Mino. Those notes go to OutIn's product team now. We will review everything captured, identify what can be improved, and build the gaps into January.
Ahead — January 2027
The Full Shoot
Planet 5's core team returns to Nuwa Estate at 1,400m and the Khumbu at 4,800m, with the Mino Traveler and Fino now in hand. A writer travels with the team on his own assignment; we will make the collaboration available to him, though his copy is his own and we cannot commit to inclusion on his behalf.
Committed minimums from the January shoot. Weather and altitude govern what is achievable on any given day, so the counts are written conservatively — if the mountain gives us more, OutIn gets more.
Distribution across an agreed four-week posting window, so the work reaches an audience rather than sitting in a folder.
The Collab tag matters most. Instagram's Collab feature publishes one post simultaneously to both accounts' feeds, so it reaches OutIn's audience natively rather than as a repost, and both brands build from the same post. We would ask that every feed post and Reel lists @everestcoffeecompany and @planet5 as collaborators.
Matched amplification. We suggest both sides put modest paid spend behind whichever post performs best, to be agreed once we can see what is working.
What Planet 5 commits in return. We match the above across our own channels, with OutIn tagged as collaborator on every post, and feature OutIn in the Guardian Quarterly Field Dispatch that goes to our membership.
This is a collaboration shoot rather than a commissioned product shoot, so the rights follow the collaboration.
Granted. Use in promotion of the Planet 5 x OutIn collaboration, worldwide, across OutIn's owned channels: social, website, email, e-commerce and retail display. Everest Coffee Company remains visible and credited in any use. Paid media use for 12 months from delivery, renewable by agreement. OutIn may recut the short-form clips for platform fit.
Credit. Photography credit as specified on delivery where the format allows it, and @everestcoffeecompany plus @planet5 tagged on every social use. Planet 5 holds the same obligations in reverse on OutIn's marks and product.
Not granted. General OutIn brand or product marketing where the collaboration is not the subject, or where Everest Coffee is cropped out or incidental. Sub-licensing or resale to third parties. Use in a context that implies Everest Coffee Company endorses a product outside this partnership. Alteration that changes the meaning of the images.
Field feedback. There are two sets. The October notes cover brewing and handling at altitude using equipment the team sourced independently, and are available now. The January report covers the Mino and Fino specifically, in cold, altitude and wet conditions. Both are written for OutIn's product team rather than for publication. If OutIn would like to quote either publicly, we ask for sign-off first, simply so the wording stays accurate.
A suggestion rather than something already discussed, for Phase 1 or Phase 2, and one that asks nothing of OutIn's team. Planet 5 would build and host a co-branded page at everestcoffeecompany.com carrying the hero film, the still gallery, the Nuwa Estate story, and the option to reserve the Nepal Collection. It would link out to the Mino and Fino on outin.com so the traffic we generate lands directly on OutIn's product pages.
Alongside it, a tracked code each way: one on outin.com for Everest Coffee buyers, one on everestcoffeecompany.com for OutIn's audience. No development work on either side. If this is of interest, all we would need is a tracking link and confirmation that OutIn is happy for the products to be featured.
Nothing elaborate, and nothing that requires either side to share sensitive data. Between native platform analytics and the tracked links, we can both see follower movement, traffic sent each way, and what converted.
We suggest a short read-out four weeks after the posting window closes, shared in both directions. That is also the natural moment to talk about what comes next.

Global attention has turned to Everest from two directions at once, and the second is still ahead. Planet 5 sits at the centre of both stories.
